About Josepha
Josepha (aka Joyce) was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Alberta, Canada with her family when she was seven years old. She has lived in Alberta ever since.
Josepha is drawn to vibrant colours in art reminding her of the colourful fields of flowers that surrounded her during her childhood. Currently, for Josepha, there is no greater pleasure than walks in nature. She is an avid photographer so her camera is always close at hand. These daily walks inspire creative ideas and subsequently Josepha attempts to capture inspirations from nature on her canvases. Living in beautiful Alberta gives her endless vistas of trees, bodies of water, snow, mountains, city scapes, ever changing skies; all worth capturing in her art. Josepha's art is not limited to landscapes, however, as you will see from her gallery. Her art dances on the continuum between abstract and realism, rendering natural elements and subjects with loose contemporary strokes and daring vibrant colours and shapes.
Josepha studied at the University of Alberta. She has a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Master of Education Degree. Her home art studio is in Edgemont in Edmonton, Alberta.
